Luis Enrique Quashes Barcola Exit Rumours
Luis Enrique has poured cold water on speculation that rising winger Bradley Barcola could swap Paris Saint-Germain for Bayern Munich when the transfer window reopens. Speaking on the eve of Wednesday’s FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final against the German champions, the PSG coach underlined that the 21-year-old Frenchman is “100 per cent part of our project” and not for sale at any price.
Luis Enrique sets the record straight
Asked directly about reported interest from Bayern, Luis Enrique dismissed the chatter as “noise from outside” and praised Barcola’s growing influence since his summer move from Lyon. “He is quick, fearless and already understands our positional game. We won’t even consider offers,” the Spaniard stated.
Why Bayern are circling
Bayern Munich have been scouring the market for a wide forward who can stretch defences and provide competition for Kingsley Coman. German media claim sporting director Christoph Freund has identified Barcola as a perfect long-term fit, but the Bavarians would have to smash their transfer record to tempt PSG.
PSG focused on silverware
The Parisian giants travel to the Club World Cup in buoyant mood after topping Ligue 1 heading into the winter break. Luis Enrique plans to start Barcola on the left flank against Bayern, confident his pace can unsettle a defence still adapting to coach Thomas Tuchel’s high line. Victory would set up a semi-final with Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense.
Short opinion
Keeping Barcola makes sense. He embodies PSG’s shift towards younger, hungrier talent, and with Kylian Mbappé’s future uncertain, losing another explosive attacker would undermine the project Enrique is painstakingly building.
